Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a state of active and open attention to the present. It means observing one's thoughts and feelings on purpose in the present moment, but without judging them as good or bad. Mindfulness encompasses two key concepts: awareness and acceptance. Awareness refers to the ability to focus attention on one's inner processes and experiences in the present. Acceptance relates to the ability to observe and accept, rather than judge or avoid, our thoughts and emotions.

Mindfulness is rooted in Buddhist and Hindu teachings, within the concept of 'sati', which encompasses attention, awareness, and being present, which is also considered as the first step toward enlightment. The emergence of mindfulness in Western culture can be attributed to Jon Kabat-Zinn in the late 1970s, when it was first introduced for therapeutical purposes in the treatment of chronic pain and stress in medical patients. Nevertheless, the concept of mindfulness in its essence has nothing to do with religious beliefs as it is usually taken as the common practice of paying attention to the present moment in a non-judgmental manner. It's just a mechanism of self-reflection and introspection in order to scrutinize your internal feelings and thoughts by going inward, which helps you to rebuild your lost relation with your own self and the outer world. It helps you seek a solution to your problems which largely depend on your own skills and abilities to overcome them.

The main goal of mindfulness is to cultivate perspective on one's inner being in order to address stress and anxiety of everyday life and become more relaxed and mentally healthier. Our lives have become very hectic nowadays and many things seem to be totally out of our control. Therefore, mindfulness that puts focus on moments of quiet, contemplation and calm may help us to survive in today's fast-paced and technology-driven world full of challenges.

Mindfulness can help us alleviate stress and improve the quality of our lives. It can support us to understand and cope with uncomfortable emotions, allowing us to gain control and relief. Thus, mindfulness transforms how we relate to events and experiences and helps us become less reactive and generally happier. By practicing mindfulness, we learn how to gain more control over our reactions and repetitive thought patterns. It helps us pause, get a clearer picture of a situation, and respond to it more skillefully.

Becoming more aware of the present moment can help us enjoy the world around us more and understand ourselves better. We become more aware of our thoughts and feelings as they happen moment to moment. At the same time, mindfulness means reconnecting with our bodies and the sensations they experience (e.g. sounds, sights, smells and tastes) at the present moment. Focusing more on these things can positively change the way we see ourselves and our lives. Mindfulness may help us control our emotions, handle stressful events and conflicts more effectively, improve relationships with friends and family, increase (self-)awareness, etc. Nevertheless, it's important to note that mindfulness isn't the answer to everything and it doesn't solve all our problems in life or just make them disappear as if with a single wave of a magic wand. It can only help us learn some better ways how to find some inner strength to deal with numerous challenges of everyday life.

Typical mindfulness activities may include numerous meditation practices such as mindful non-judgemental awareness of breath, body, feelings, emotions and thoughts throughout the day, walking meditation, mindful eating, mindful body scan, listening with non-judgement, etc. Mindfulness practice may be applied for numerous therapeutic purposes, i.e. to reduce depression, to reduce stress and anxiety, in healthy ageing, weight management, helping children with special needs, as support in the treatment of drug addiction, etc. Therefore, programs based on mindfulness models can be implemented in schools, hospitals, medical centres, prisons and other environments to promote and support mental health and general well-being.

Additionally, mindfulness practice can be beneficial in education both for students and teachers. It can help students to reduce stress and improve their ability to manage stress more effectively, to improve their ability to stay more focused and concentrated on their learning, to improve their emotion regulation, to increase their emotional intelligence, to increase empathy and respect towards others, to improve their physical and mental well-being, etc. For teachers, mindfulness practice may reduce stress and professional burnout, help them manage their classes more easily, improve their approach to students and relationships with them, etc.

To sum it up, mindfulness improves both our physical and mental health. By focusing on the here and now, and connecting with our inner self, we become more apt to fully engage ourselves in our everyday activities, to worry less about the future or regret over the past, to be less preoccupied with concerns and adverse events and to become better able to form deeper connections with others. Mindful meditation activities may help us gain a better perspective on our irrational, maladaptive, and self-defeating thoughts. Therefore, mindfulness improves our general well-being and increases our capacities to develop attitudes and strategies that could lead us to a better-quality and more satisfied life.

  1. Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings etc. It also involves acceptance, which means that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them.
Some of the typical mindful activities that we can practice in our daily life are: take some time in the morning without any distractions, without checking our phone/social media accounts etc., mediate daily.
There are many benefits of practicing mindful activities such as: help relieve stress, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep, it can help with dealing with depression, eating disorders and/or anxiety disorders. Practicing mindful activities in the classroom can be very helpful, not just for the teacher but for the students too. Mindfulness programs are easily developed and adapted for specific ages and contexts. It is relatively easy to incorporate mindfulness into schools, provided there is sensitivity to the developmental stages and needs of the students (Bostic, Nevarez, Potter, Prince, Benningfield, & Aguirre, 2015).
Some of the activities may be: encourage students to think about how they breathe, to take their time with that activity.

  2. There are many definitions of mindfulness. For me, mindfulness is daily thinking about the correctness of the things we do.
When we search for this term online, we come to the definition that "Mindfulness is a state of active and open attention to the present."
Today it is very important to be mindfulness in every sense of the word.It is most important to be mindfulness to the people we care about. We have to think not to hurt them if we are less careful. Also, as teachers we need to be quite mindfulness and gentle with children. We have to be careful not to accidentally make them sad if we say something we shouldn’t have.
Some typical mindful activities that we can practice in our everyday life are maybe our favorite game or meditation. In the lecture, the professor mentioned sitting and walking meditation. Meditation and body and mind relaxation exercises are also very important for our mood. It depends on what our day will be like. I think that mindfulness is very important and beneficial in making some important life decisions, such as work. We need to be determined and clear in what we want in order to achieve our goals. We can establish mindfulness in schools. How it depends of the teacher and their work. Teachers need to be mindfulness when telling students which are good and which are bad habits. It is important to develop only good and positive work habits in students.

    Be mindfulness, be happy!

  3. Mindfulness is the practice of purposely bringing one’s attention to experiences occurring in the present moment without judgment, s skill one develops through meditation or other training.
Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, awere of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.
While mindfulness is something we all naturally possess, it’s more readily available to us when we practice on a daily basis.
Mindfulness helps us put some space between ourselves and our reactions, breaking down our conditioned responses.
As you spend time practicing mindfulness you’ll probably find yourself feeling kinder, clamer, and more patient. These shifts in your experience are likely to generate changes in other parts of your life as well.

Mindfulness can also help us to be more effective at reducing conflict and developing more positive ways relating in the classroom, which can help us feel more job satisfaction.
Mindfulness helps teachers understand our own emotions better.
Mindfulness helps us communicate more effectively with students.
Mindfulness helps us manage students we find difficult.
Help us set up a positive learning environment.
Helps strengthen our relationship with students.
Helps us slow down when we need to.

  4. "Be careful! Become aware! “These are phrases we have been listening to since our childhood and which are present in our daily activities. The notion of mindfulness implies activity and openness of attention in the present moment. Two concepts that we can relate to attention to awareness and acceptance. Awareness has made our lives easier because it has provided an opportunity to see things and situations in which we find ourselves with different and better eyes. We will better understand ourselves but also the people and the environment around us. Through mindfulness, we control our feelings that help us cope more easily with stressful situations that are very common these days. The exercise of mindfulness is very important for each individual because it helps us to increase awareness and to look at the world with different eyes. I consider it a great benefit for both us and our lives. The fact that with the application of care has improved our mental and physical condition because it somehow relieves stress, burden, gives us a sense of calm and peace and this helps us to survive the accelerated pace at which we live. The concept of mindfulness can also be applied in schools, colleges and education in general, because in this way it helps primarily children, teenagers who reduce their stress during school. It is necessary to work carefully on the attention from the early period of the child in order for the child to be formed in the correct way and in order not to order his mental and physical health. Also, with the application of care, students, schoolchildren and teenagers are in some way facilitated by studying because they improve the concept of learning, increase empathy and respect for other people in their environment. Attention is also of great importance to teachers, because in this way they can also reduce stress and make it easier to teach without the stress and pressures that they may have shown to students before.

  5. Mindfulness is the awareness of our thoughts in everyday moments. We need to live in the moments and think about our current thoughts. Before we think or feel anything, a brief moment of our consciousness or feeling appears in our consciousness.
There are mindfulness therapies. These are some meditations, breathing exercises ... There are also for children, but they are harmonized with some games, words, activities, humor. Mindfulness techniques help us in self-awareness, achieving inner balance, self-acceptance, helping with stress, etc.
In children, we can apply these exercises when they are upset, scared, sad. We can tell children to imagine holding a cup of hot chocolate in their hands and taking a deep breath through their nose as if smelling it, and slowly exhaling through their mouths to cool the hot chocolate.

  6. Hello! 🌼

We all already know that we have several types of attention, that they are all there to direct us to some goal or object of our observation. Somehow I would call it a trait of good upbringing. Attention teaches us to be kinder, more sacrificial, focused ... A lot of things come from just one attention. I think it is very useful to work on it with children or practice it. Teach our least that attention is essential.

💭 Eg. we can take the example of one plant if we do not water it and cannot expect fruit from it. If we don’t give it nutrients and quality soil we can’t talk about good roots.
So it is with people and everything we do. 🌱

  8. Hello everyone! 🌹❤💬
This is a very interesting topic.

Mindfullness is the basic human ability to be fully present and feel happier and positive. Everyone on the world has some kind of problem, but It is important to know how to be less nervouse and how to spend day on the best way for our happines and health. Especially on this period in our lives, we have to stay healthy and optimistic. Mindfullness is strategy that can help us to be stronger and to understand ourselves. It is important, because if we are connected with ourselves, we are also more connected with other people. We have to live in this moment. On that way, we can do anything to make this moment the best in our lives. Why we are so occupied with our past, escpecially with negative moments? It is wrong thing, beacuse present is the most important thing that can occupied our mind. We learn from past, live in present, and do the best for better future. On that way we can improve the quality of our lives. By practicing this strategy we can learn how to control reaction, and it can improve relationships with others, too. This strategy is interesting for our future job, beacuse we can teach children how to relax their minds and hearts, and how to improve relationships with their friends. Teachers need to practice mindfullness. It can also improve communication and our everyday work.

  9. Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention to the present. This state is described as observing one’s thoughts and feelings without judging them as good or bad.To live mindfully is to live in the moment and reawaken oneself to the present, rather than dwelling on the past or anticipating the future. To be mindful is to observe and label thoughts, feelings, sensations in the body in an objective manner. Mindfulness can therefore be a tool to avoid self-criticism and judgment while identifying and managing difficult emotions.Mindfulness encompasses two key ingredients: awareness and acceptance. Awareness is the knowledge and ability to focus attention on one’s inner processes and experiences, such as the experience of the present moment. Acceptance is the ability to observe and accept—rather than judge or avoid—those streams of thought. The goal of mindfulness is to cultivate perspective on one’s consciousness and identity that can bring greater peace mentally and relationally. Mindfulness may also be used in mindfulness-based therapies, to address stress, anxiety, or pain, and simply to become more relaxed.Mindfulness can help bring you into the present moment throughout the day. As you wake up, you can focus on your breathing and the way your body gradually becomes more energized.

  10. Mindfulness involves our “look” on the world, meaning that we pay atention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them. I think there is no right or wrong way to thing about something. It is just in our nature, probably. We are all different, and we think differently. I’m not sure but practicing mindfulness helps us to manage stress. I heard about medidation as a powerful way to practice mindfulness. In a world of social media, where others opinions, commentary, likes or reactions are so important it is really good to see how non-judgmental attitude can be a welcome change. This topic is really strange to me and I have not much to say. I’m looking on some web pages for more informations. Mindfulness I can see like everyday thinking about things we do. “Inner peace is the new success”. This is correct. But is it hard to find inner peace? I think it is and that every human being is trying to find peace. I find my peace in long walk and thinking about life for example or with a cup of tee while sunbathing. I really dont do meditation and have no idea how to do it. Knowing the mind-“ One od Buddha’s teaching is that as humans, we create suffering and problems in our own minds. It is believed that our sense of self, or who we are, is heavily influenced by activities such as ego-centrism, attachment and discrimination. When we practice reflection without judgment, we can discover more about our motivations, our feelings, and reactions and become more meta-aware.”

  12. Mindfulness is the state of being aware of the present or what we are going through. It is a psychological procedure, in which we focus our attention or mind on the experiences happening in the very moment.
The best way to the achieve the greatest happiness and wisdom in the world is practicing meditation. Meditation techniques can also take us closer to the state of mindfulness. Practicing mindfulness on a regular basis allows us to be more calm and peaceful around people. Being mindful also includes the ability to be aware of our emotions and how to regulate them.
Mindfulness is being conscious of our mind, body, and soul.
When we sit mindfully we begin to notice things. Generally we start with our breathing. That’s a good place to start.

  13. Mindfulness. It’s a pretty straightforward word. It suggests that the mind is fully attending to what’s happening, to what you’re doing, to the space you’re moving through. That might seem trivial, except for the annoying fact that we so often veer from the matter at hand. Our mind takes flight, we lose touch with our body, and pretty soon we’re engrossed in obsessive thoughts about something that just happened or fretting about the future and that makes us anxious. Some basic activities we can practice in our everyday life are meditation, conscious eating, breathing exercises, becoming aware of our surrounding, mindful walking…Mindfulness is not a special added thing we do. We already have the capacity to be present, and it doesn’t require us to change who we are. But we can cultivate these innate qualities with simple practices that are scientifically demonstrated to benefit ourselves, our loved ones, our friends and neighbours, the people we work with, and the institutions we take part in. It can be implemented in schools by raising students’ awareness and creating different curriculum. As a future educator, I should be a role model for students and show them how to become more calm, productive and effective.

  14. Respect is one of the basic things you can give to another human being, but not to yourself. It costs nothing, and we can - and should - give it freely in whatever quantities we feel we need. The respect we give to others is a great and very precise measure of our personal quality and often directly affects how much we will get in return. We need to respect differences in culture, race, religion, and beliefs exactly as much as we want others to respect ours. Surely you don’t want someone to offend your skin color or automatically consider you a bad person because of it? Imagine how you would feel if someone for one single aspect of your being rejected all your other virtues, everything else that makes you what you are and reduces you to a stereotype, something that does not deserve respect? Respect is what protects all good things from forgetting and ignoring. Respect is what you can give to others so that they can pass it on to you and other people. However, just because you give respect does not necessarily mean that you will receive it in return. That’s a sad truth, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you should stop trying. Respect is a habit that can be passed on to other people, but slowly - little by little - with a lot of patience. The concept of mindfulness is extremely important to apply in schools, and the best example of this is the introduction of the subject. So, in my opinion, in order to really make children aware of the importance of mindfulness and revive the daily application of the same – children must learn about it in the curriculum. Only when we give the child at least once a week a conversation about mindfulness and emphasize its importance - we can have mindful children. I would apply attention activities as an educator daily, through focused activities, and beyond. Short conversations after some inappropriate act between children is a situation when I would apply and represent mutual attention. “Is that okay with what you did? By doing so, you have shown that you do not respect your friends, nor yourself. Let's work together on the development of mindfulness. ”And then I would provide a meditation activity, a short motivational sentence to encourage children to think about good deeds, and mutual mindfulness. I find that a mindfulness exercise that can be helpful to me is pure meditation. It is a kind of mindfulness that I give exclusively to myself, I give myself space to rest, to think, and respect my own needs. "It's not hard to be nice. "Therefore, let us be kind and considerate to ourselves and others.

  15. Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, through a gentle, nurturing lens. Mindfulness also involves acceptance, meaning that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them—without believing, for instance, that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in a given moment. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future.

  16. Mindfulness can be described as the practice of paying attention in the present moment, and doing it intentionally and with non-judgment. Mindfulness is a practice – the practice of paying attention in the present moment and doing it with non-judgment. Over the last 30 years this practice has been thoroughly researched and successfully implemented in hospitals, businesses, education and the military. While mindfulness is innate, it can be cultivated through proven techniques. Here are some examples: seated, walking, standing, and moving meditation; short pauses we insert into everyday life; merging meditation practice with other activities, such as yoga or sports. When we’re mindful, we reduce stress, enhance performance, gain insight and awareness through observing our own mind, and increase our attention to others’ well-being. One of the reasons for the popularity of mindfulness is its simplicity. It is easy, inexpensive, and can be practiced by anyone at any time.

  20. Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness is a quality that every human being already possesses, it’s not something you have to practice, you just have to learn how to access it. Mindfulness is not obscure or exotic. It is not a special added thing we do. We don’t need to change. Mindfulness is not all in your head.
There are some easy ways to be mindful in your everyday life. You have to pay attention to your mind and your body, you have to pay attention to your taste, texture and smell. You have to pay attention to whatever you are doing with your hands. There is many ways to practice mindfullnes right now. In the first place, you have to stop doing what you're doing in that moment and take a breath. Put down your phone. Turn off your TV. Find mindful moment in every task of the day. Notice your moves and your words.
What can mindfulness do for students? It can reduce stress, increase focus, improve emotions, increase emotional intelligence, increase empathy and respect and improve creativity..
Students will find it much easier to focus and actively engage in the classroom. The class will benefit as a whole from a collective calm. Students will be less likely to bully others, and those students who are bullied will be more resilient.
What can mindfulness do for teachers? It can reduce stress and burnout, it can help them to more easily manage classrooms and improve learning conditions.
Teachers will be able to spend more time teaching and less time managing the classroom and also be better equipped to handle the stresses of work. Teachers teaching students that are practicing mindfulness will also find students to be better mentally equipped to learn.
Both adults and children can benefit from mindfulness training, especially in the sometimes-challenging public school environment. Mindfulness is simply the practice of training our brain to be aware of our feelings, our bodies, and our environment in the present moment.

  21. For other or similar comments, I wanted to share with you these 8 tips for life. From today, I will also start applying them and try to enjoy every moment. Read them carefully, and remember them well. 🦋
So many of us spend our days just running from moment to moment. We are busy, have demands coming from several different areas of life, and simply don’t feel like there is time to stop and smell the roses. We wonder if we can get the rose scent in a to-go package.

I know, I have been there.

However, with a focused effort, we can take the time to slow back down. Through mindful living practices, we can find more happiness, joy, and meaning in our lives. That said, being mindful is not as easy as it sounds. It is a habit that you have to develop. On that note, I have put together a list of eight habits that have helped in my quest to be more mindful.

    #1 Sit in the morning

The morning offers a great opportunity to practice your mindfulness. The day is just beginning, it is nice and quiet, and you may have a few moments to yourself. Instead of getting out of bed and rushing through a morning routine, I like to sit for a few minutes. I think about being thankful for the day and just let myself be in the present.

You might just choose to sit on the couch and concentrate on controlled breathing, or can also take up meditation. I find that doing so helps me to start each day off with the right frame of mind.

    #2 Eat mindfully

When was the last time you truly appreciated a meal? It’s understandable. Your life is busy, and as a result, eating has become something done in passing. We have fast food restaurants we can drive through and eat as we drive even. Instead, I encourage you to try slowing down, making food yourself, and eating purposefully. Choose live foods with a variety of different colors, textures, and flavors. Take the time to really chew and appreciate each bite. Doing so is better for your digestion and can be a very enjoyable and relaxing time.

As an additional point, so many of us bring distractions to the table. Some people watch TV, others read, and some might not be able to put down their smartphone. It might seem like a good way to pass the time when you eat, but you are missing the chance to be mindful and truly enjoy the meal.

You can also consider Project Happiness Handbook!

The Project Happiness Handbook combines the best of mindfulness, positive psychology, neuroscience, and conflict resolution. The 7 chapters of the Handbook are designed to take you on an experiential journey to get to know who you really are, to learn to master emotions, reduce stress, to connect compassionately with yourself and the complex world around you, and finally to positively share your individual gifts and passions.

    #3 Spend time outside

Spending a little time outdoors can be another way to achieve mindfulness, and you don’t need to go to a far-off retreat to get the desired results. All you have to do is take a walk around your neighborhood. If you have some nice trails, parks, or green spaces, they can make the perfect environment for getting in touch with nature and for connecting with the present moment. Observe what you see on your walk, how the weather feels, what you hear, and what you smell. Đenana Kustura, predškolski odgoj, treća godina

  22. This topic is really good and useful because we live in time where everything comes fast, everyone are running for something, forgeting to live in a moment. That brings us a lot of stress and worries, we can`t concentrate on our daily tasks. When we are stressed we can`t think clear or positive, everything becomes black and that is very difficult situation, it affects on our mental health. We should live in present and try to make it better. If we work hard, enjoy and make the best of a moment our future will be brighter. Positive thoughts bring positive situation. Our mind needs a few minutes in day to relax so we could be productive that day. Mindfulness is living in a moment. Use every moment to make your life better. There are many mindfulness exercises you can practice on a regular basis, learning how to be present in the moment is also a way of life. With practice, you can learn to live a more mindful life that allows you to become more conscious of everything you are doing.
Mindfulness is more than just a practice. It brings awareness and caring into everything we do—and it cuts down needless stress. Even a little makes our lives better.

In the time we live in everything happens very fast and often we don’t have time to stop and think about ourselves, we don’t have time for ourselves.
It is very important that we take care of our health. We can help ourselves if we practice mindfuless. Some activities of mindulness are: take a deep breath, think about every bite as we eat, think of every step we walk, put focus on what we do, don't think about future or past, just live in the moment.

  25. Mindfulness is defined as non- judgmental awareness of our thoughts, feelings and surrounding environment. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts stop thinking of past and future and tune into what we are sensing in the present moment. We need to start paying attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them. There is no right or wrong way to think or feel in given moment. There are a lot of ways to practice mindfulness. We can practice it in most of situations by just being non judgmental. We can also use a tradicional approach of practicing mindfulness such as yoga, a silent retreat, eating, meditating. We can start by developing our awarenes to breathe. Mindful breating can be practices anywhere at any time. We, as a future teachers need to be mindfull when talking about good and bad habits with our students. Mindfulness isn't difficult. We just need to remember to do it.

  26. Mindfulness is the practice of purposely bringing one's attention to experiences occurring in the present moment without judgment, a skill one develops through meditation or other training.
Directing all of your attention and awareness to the present can bring many benefits to your emotional and physical health, as well as to the relationships in your life.
Whether you eat while you scroll through your phone or you reach for food for emotional comfort, mindless eating is common. And it can contribute to a host of problems, like overeating and consuming too much sugar. Practice becoming more mindful about how you fuel your body. Resist the urge to multi-task while you eat. When you eat, be present with your food.
Notice your body's signals about when you're getting full and pay more attention to what's on your plate. When you become more intentional about what you're eating, you'll be better equipped to focus on fueling your body with the nutrition it needs.

  27. We live in a world where a lot od things happens every day. It is very difficult to stay calm, to have peace of mind. Changes happen to everyone, and in these situations we turn to friends and close people and they to us. I think it is a great success not to judge someone, to listen to someone without the need to criticize them. Anyone who turns to us for advice does not want condemnation, they just want someone to listen to it and make it easier for them. When we attack people, we are constantly looking for flaws, they will not want to tell us anything. Of course there are situations that we do not support and that upset us, but we must learn to tolerate them well. Mìndfulness teaches us to be peaceful observers and to live with peace of mind. This does not mean ignoring our emotions, but accepting them. It helps us to rest , get a better picture of a situation, and respond to it like adut. It's the way to learn some better ways how to find some inner strength to deal with challenges life.

Mindfulness is based on this moment, and it can be practiced anywhere and anytime during the day. For example, we can start every day with checking our feelings. Every morning we have chance to check how we feel, how we breathe and what sounds or smells we feel around us. If we practise Mindfulness, we will start day with peace. Mindfulness is a skill which we have constantly learn and built, it includes daily practise. For example we could compare our thoughts and feelings with waves in the sea. Sometimes they can be small, but sometimes they can be so huge and terrible. Our fight with daily waves can be easirer if we think about our problems and our feelings. We have to stay and understand: „Why I feeling sad, scary, stressfull in this moment?“ Mindfulnes learn us that we can not suppress this emotions!

  30. Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.
While mindfulness is innate, it can be cultivated through proven techniques. Here are some examples:
    Seated, walking, standing, and moving meditation (it’s also possible lying down but often leads to sleep);
    Short pauses we insert into everyday life;
Merging meditation practice with other activities, such as yoga or sports.
When we’re mindful, we reduce stress, enhance performance, gain insight and awareness through observing our own mind, and increase our attention to others’ well-being.

Mindfulness meditation gives us a time in our lives when we can suspend judgment and unleash our natural curiosity about the workings of the mind, approaching our experience with warmth and kindness—to ourselves and others
By teaching children meditation and mindfulness skills we help them increase their well-being and enable them to meet the stresses of the world with presence, self-compassion, and openness.

In order to help kids of all ages find their way into practicing mindfulness, it can be helpful to give them an easy definition they can relate to.
To introduce the idea of mindfulness more directly to kids, you can use exercises that encourage them to tune into their senses. Make a game out of eating a snack very slowly, savoring the smell, texture, and taste. Or, dive into an time of glitter jar making with any variety of materials: glitter, different-coloured beads, food colouring and oil, pieces of lego. The DIY craft doubles as a creative exercise and a mindfulness tool to represent the mind settling.

The activities we can practice in everyday life are to pay more attention to other people, to pay attention when they tell us something and to actively listen to them, without interrupting them or condemning what they tell us. Also what we can still do is work on ourselves every day, to become the best we can be.
Mindfulness exercises are very important and useful because they help us increase awareness and look at the world with different eyes. They also help us to be aware first of all of ourselves and then of the people around us. They affect our active listening to others and perceiving situations from a different angle. Through mindfulness exercises, we can influence our actions as well as our reactions.

  36. Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness is a quality that every human being already possesses, it’s not something you have to supplement, you just have to learn how to access it. At a time when there is the most speed, stress and tension, we need to become aware of ourselves. Spend at least half an hour every day for yourself, gather your thoughts and impressions and move on. Our body is depleted and needs renewal. We have to restore freshness. We fix the body by going to the movies, reading consciousness, and reading a book. Fostering mindfulness in preschoolers with tools like pictures, objects, food, simple movements, and music, can help them develop an ability to better focus their attention and stay present.

  37. Mindfulness allows you to be in the moment because then you can objectively look at the situation that is happening right now. When you are aware of yourself, your thoughts and feelings and presence you take the wheel. You decide what to think about, how much importance you will give to a thought, feeling, or situation. It is a method by which we strengthen ourselves.
With mindfulness we develop mental abilities and character traits, whose main virtues are: attentive presence, openness, relaxation and tolerance - primarily towards ourselves and our experiences, and then towards the environment and the world.Mindfulness can take place through meditation sessions or smaller moments throughout the day. To cultivate a state of mindfulness, you can begin by sitting down and taking deep breaths. Focus on each breath and the sensations of the moment, such as sounds, scents, the temperature, and the feeling of air passing in and out of the body.

  38. Mindfulness means living in the now, not constantly worrying about the future or rethinking the decisions that we made in the past. It's the ability to be fully engaged in everything that is happening in the moment while accepting and not judging. When we are in the moment we are able to make good decisions because of being self aware. In that way we are careful in what we say, think or do. One of the big problems in todays society is that we are never present, even when we are with our families, we are constantly on our phones, not engaging in conversation. Those moment that we miss would one day become on of the most valuable memories. We don't realize what we have until it's lost, I guess. Our hobbies are also often pushed to the side because of our "priorities". We should take time out of our day to enjoy doing something that we love and that brings us inner peace. Taking care of our mental health is crucial. For example I really enjoy painting, and when I paint I feel so much happiness, but I don't do it as often as I should. I would definitely feel much happier. Mindfulness can be included in education by letting the students know that their feelings are valued, that they can feel every emotion without feeling the need to instantly put on a "perfection mask" and hide their feeling behind it. In that way we can work on reducing school related stress. One more important thing is not to threaten students with the future, by saying things like "If you carry on like that you will never get anywhere!". We should allow students to be in the moment, because being in the moment is one of the best possible ways to learn a lot. We all know school and university is extremely stressful, but maybe it wouldn't be if we allowed ourselves to worry about the current moment. It shouldn't occupy every minute of our time, we must make time for our families and friends. One of the things that I would implement as an educator is that I would never expect my students to be all the same, to learn at the same, to have the same level of success. By recognizing that each and every one of them is different and learns in different ways, stress levels could be reduced. Acknowledging their personality, their emotions and their passions is a ticket to inevitable success. Mindfulness is something we all need to work on.

  39. Care is one of the qualities that every human being should possess. Every human being, whether a child or an adult, needs to have developed qualities of care. Already in childhood, we need to develop the quality of attention in children by encouraging them on a daily basis to pay attention to their actions, to pay attention to the environment that surrounds them, to themselves. It is important that the educator / teacher himself is a caring person because in this way he gives a positive example to the child and children at a younger age learn through a model. Also, I think it is extremely important to talk to older children about attention and all the qualities that a person should possess and that should not. In this way we influence the child's thinking and his attitude. Children in that way can create the habit and characteristic of caring people. He will start taking care of himself and the people around him. Every being who is attentive to himself and to others becomes happier and more fulfilled. Because then we are aware that we take care of ourselves and others. It is necessary to nurture this trait on a daily basis and practice it in order to learn a new segment of the same or improve existing segments over and over again. Attention affects the regulation of physical and mental condition. Every person who takes care of himself will take care of for example what he will eat, whether it is healthy for his health or not. This is a sign of awareness and attention we pay towards our mental and physical health. There is a healthy mind in a healthy body. For example when we observe a student they very often look frustrating, depressed but when a student is more careful with himself he would realize that nothing is more valuable than himself and that everything can arrive, fix and do if organized on time and if he sets priorities in life. By cultivating attention we become an empathetic person, which is really important to be in today’s world in which we exist.

"It's easy to stop noticing the world around us. It's also easy to lose touch with the way our bodies are feeling and to end up living 'in our heads' – caught up in our thoughts without stopping to notice how those thoughts are driving our emotions and behaviour," he says.

"An important part of mindfulness is reconnecting with our bodies and the sensations they experience. This means waking up to the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the present moment. That might be something as simple as the feel of a banister as we walk upstairs.

"Another important part of mindfulness is an awareness of our thoughts and feelings as they happen moment to moment.

"It's about allowing ourselves to see the present moment clearly. When we do that, it can positively change the way we see ourselves and our lives." Professor Mark Williams.

  43. There is a difference between awareness and mindfulness. When you pay attention to something, it is something special; you have to separate your attention from everything else. So it is a kind of "tension". That is why it is called focused attention. You then focus your attention only on that, on nothing else. If you focus on breathing, you can’t pay attention to anything else; on your walk, on your car ride. Don’t try while driving because you can’t do both yet. “Mindfulness ” means one special thing. Awareness is something else entirely; it is nothing special. There’s no attention there, pointing out something special: it’s just “being careful”; it just means being aware. You are aware when you are within the world, when you are aware at all, when you are aware of everything, not just a particular thing. Your breathing is in your consciousness. You walk, and someone passes by you, you are aware of him. Someone is making noise in the streets; somewhere a train passes; some plane flies: everything is included within consciousness. Awareness, vigilance is one involvement; mindfulness is exclusively, focus on one particular phenomenon. But in the beginning, there will be only focused attention, caution. You know very well that care is a very difficult thing. That's because you're completely asleep. So if you start working carefully and something else while breathing, it will not work for you. But you should not abandon that attempt. You will probably try to deprive yourself of your effort to be careful while breathing. So don’t create unnecessary problems for yourself. You can find some time for yourself throughout the day. Forty minutes will be enough, so start with that technique. But the mind will still impose many excuses on you. The mind will say, "Where can I find so much time? I already have so much to do. Where can I find time for it?" Or he will say, "Now that's not possible, maybe later. Sometimes I might find time for that, sometimes when there's a better opportunity for it." Beware of what your mind tells you. Don't trust your mind too much. We are never suspicious. We can be suspicious of everyone, just not our own mind.

Mindfulness improves mental health. In recent years, psychotherapists have turned to mindfulness meditation as an important element in the treatment of a number of problems, including: depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, couples’ conflicts, anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

The name game: First, look around you and name three things you can hear, then two things you can see, and finally one sensation that you feel. By doing this, you are grounding yourself by increasing your awareness of your body and your environment. Being mindful makes it easier to savor the pleasures in life as they occur, helps you become fully engaged in activities, and creates a greater capacity to deal with adverse events. By focusing on the here and now, many people who practice mindfulness find that they are less likely to get caught up in worries about the future or regrets over the past, are less preoccupied with concerns about success and self-esteem, and are better able to form deep connections with others. We can engage children in mindful practices for example The name game.

  48. Mindfulness as a concept is the ability to have control over your emotions. It is a state of being aware of something.
This exact ability can help us have a better and a happier life. Most of the people are obsessed with a certain idea that happiness is money and what we can buy in material things, but true happiness is actually peace. The peace we have with ourselves and with other people around us.
Inner peace helps our mental health, and when we our mental health is okay, then our physical health is better too.
Certain activities that we can do which could help us, the moment we wake up, we should take that moment for ourselves. We should sit and enjoy that quiet moment. Of course, there is that ''we are what we eat'', if we eat healthy, and truly enjoy those moments when we eat peacefully. Choose variety of food, colorful, vivid food that makes us happy and healthy. Exercise is very good for our mental and physical state. Even though we live in this situation that we are right now, we should take time and go outside. Mountains, fields and long walks are the way we can take a break from the noise and everyday life.
If we got used to leading a healthier and fuller life, if we looked at that moment every day, the quality of life would be much better.
The way we could implement this concept is to introduce a special lecture on our mental health. To introduce awareness about people taking their own lives because they are not happy. If could could have educated people with whom our students, children could talk if they feel overwhelmed.
We should also that it is okay to take a moment for yourself and allow that moment to turn into a way of life. Appreciate small things. The way we could introduce this concept is to come up with stories that we could tell to our children in which these habits are mentioned, but also, children need to see that we are practicing these habits by ourselves. As we know, children learn what they see, not only what they hear.
We need to love what we do, if we don’t already do what we love, we need to create our own hobbies that make us happy. We need to be surrounded by people who make us happy. There is one great proverb that says don’t let your emotions overcome your intelligence. If we can control our emotions and enjoy little things, we will be happier.

  49. The concept of 'mindfulness' is awareness of present, meaning awareness of everything we are surrounded with, and not being overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Some useful mindful activities that we can implement in our lives on daily basis are focusing on our five senses, focusing on our breath, practicing gratitude, practicing the centering exercise, etc. Mindfulness practices can be beneficial for individual because scientifically it is linked with increased immune functioning, improvement in well-being and reductions in psychological distress. As person individually can work on mindfulness, he/she can help others in achieving that goal through own experience. That can also be implemented in educational institutions, and it can ease whole process. Currently I don't have my own idea of implementing and applying mindfulness in my future job, but I am sure I have time to think of some good way that will be benefitial to everyone.

  50. Mindfulness means paying attention in a certain way: intentionally, in the present moment and without condemnation.
In everyday life we can apply the mindfulness method at any time. For example when we go by the bus to work or school. Then we have all the time in the world to stop for a moment and look around, realize what is happening around us, and without condemnation, just watch everything slowly change. Another good thing is walking with yourself. Then we can understand how slow this world is actually moving. In that trance, when we are just relaxed, at the same time we are maximally focused and we understand how normal everything is, and how much everything makes sense when you look at things with the lack of stress over your head.
In schools and universities, we can apply mindfulness by educating both educators and students about the concept of this, but above all educators, because we as children have too much information crammed into our heads. The way of educating children needs to be changed. We need to find a more interesting and newer way, which will deviate from this old-fashioned way of learning.
In the future, I can see some ways to make it easier for children to understand and learn. I wanna make a school a safer place for them, but nowadays, when old ways of educating students are still established, where children's knowledge is more important than mental health, I don’t think I would fit in there with my ideas and principles. -Anyone can do it. Mindfulness practice cultivates universal human qualities and does not require anyone to change their beliefs. Everyone can benefit and it’s easy to learn.
-It’s a way of living. Mindfulness is more than just a practice. It brings awareness and caring into everything we do—and it cuts down needless stress. Even a little makes our lives better.
-It’s evidence-based. We don’t have to take mindfulness on faith. Both science and experience demonstrate its positive benefits for our health, happiness, work, and relationships.
-It sparks innovation. As we deal with our world’s increasing complexity and uncertainty, mindfulness can lead us to effective, resilient, low-cost responses to seemingly intransigent problems.

Mindfulness is living in the moment. No stress, just relax. We need to take some time for ourselves sometimes, everyone needs a break. Meditation is one of the way you can train your mind and relax, enjoy in the moment.
I relax by listening to music, reading books, going on soccer games, photography, spending time with people that i love and positive people. In this crazy times we need positive people around us. Also acceptence is also very important for mindfulness. We need to love and accept ourselves, be positive, and be proud of who we are. We need to live in the moment sometimes. That moment that we are having right now maybe we won't have it ever again. Life passes so fast, we will regret some passed moments if we don't live in the moment.
Put down your mobile, turn off your TV, spend time in nature,do something that u really love, take a deep breath, fill your mind with positivity, take a moment just for yourself and live in the moment.
"Mindfulness isn't difficult. We just need to remember to do it. " - Sharon Salzberg

  52. I think that mindfulness should be combined with our daily routine as it can be applied into everything we do; when we eat, meditate or even just lay in bed. It's a simple way of keeping our mind and also our body healthy. In fact mindfulness can reduce stress, increase focus, increase our empathy and respect for others, it can increase engagement in physical activity and also improve our emotional intelligence. I believe that our health depends on our mental state so therefore mindfulness can help us a lot more than we think. Living life is better when you appreciate every moment as it is, indeed, a gift.

  53. Mindfulness is a practice – the practice of paying attention in the present moment and doing it with non-judgment. Over the last 30 years this practice has been thoroughly researched and successfully implemented in hospitals, businesses, education and the military.

  54. Mindfulness can give you various kinds of benefits in your day-to-day life, out of which some are science-backed and some are divine. Mindfulness is generally defined as non-judgmental, moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings and surrounding environment. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts stop rebashing the past or imagining the future and tune into what wa are sensing in the present moment. Mindfulness involves acceptance, and as such is non-judgmental. We pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them. There is no right or wrong way to think or feel in a given moment.
This year has been very stressful for everyone. Today, maintaining mental control and mental health has become much more difficult than physical. The state of mind is very important for life and daily work. People go through a lot of stress, hurry and it is very difficult to maintain inner peace every day. Mindfulness is practice that everyone should have in today’s life.
Mindfulness is a practice that we should all have today. Achieving this state is not easy but we should pay much more attention to our mental state, stop for a moment, think and truly see how happy and rich we actually are. The best way to invest in the future is to take care of the present moment.

In the same time some say that to be happy we need to be focused on our experience in the present moment.

  56. I think this quote is good motivation for those starting to work on mindfulness: "The best way to take care of the future is to take care of the present moment." If we don't focus on the present moment, but worry about our future, we will never progress from that place. And our present is spent only on thoughts, and we take no action. I once read a very good quote that I can relate to this topic:

"If something won’t matter in five years, don’t stress about it for even five minutes."

This has helped me get a lot of unimportant things out of my head and focus on something that will be important to me even in five years.

  57. Mindfulness is more than just a word and it helps to slow down our everyday life and reduce stress. Mindfulness is a form of meditation and originally comes from Buddhism. To be mindful means to consciously experience moments and to listen to your inner impulses. This is how you protect your psyche and slow your life down.
Most of these mindfulness exercises can be easily integrated into everyday life. In this way, you manage to calm down and relax every day without much effort, to perceive the here and now and to live more consciously.
    Main adventages of mindfulness are:
    - Mindfulness is having a good impact on our body. It can improve a person’s immune system and strengthen it. Also it can affect the quality of sleep.
    - Mindfulness affects our brain, improves learning, memory, emotion regulation and empathy.
    - Mindfulness sharpens the mind and hepls us focus. It activates positive emotions and reduces negative ones and also keep us concentrated and makes us more determined.

    1. Mindfulness is a type of cognitive psychotherapy focused on consciousness, and is a scientifically based method of meditation that serves to maintain a state of psychological well-being. In addition to being simple, mindfulness meditation is quite effective, especially when it comes to depressed and anxious moods. Mindfulness is a moment that lasts very short so it is impossible to notice it without developing and practicing the method of meditation. Although meditation as a method of relaxation has its roots in the Buddhist tradition, it is important to emphasize that mindfulness as psychotherapy does not involve any spiritual, spiritual and religious techniques which means that this type of therapy does not conflict with any religious beliefs and worldviews. Mindfulness exercises are most commonly used in people who have difficulty with depressive and anxiety states. They are also useful for people who:
-have a tendency to often think negatively,
-overly concerned about possible disasters in the future,
      -they are too self-critical,
      -have sudden mood swings,
-they often question their negative reactions and want to change them,
      -have trouble maintaining concentration,
-they are often overwhelmed by unpleasant emotions and do not know how to deal with them.
If a person suffers from severe depression, panic attacks and fear and anxiety, the use of mindfulness as psychotherapy is recommended only when the symptoms are at least slightly alleviated because the effect is better. Sometimes in such situations it is more useful to go through a short individual psychotherapy and then start a mindfulness course.

  59. Mindfulness is ability of staying in present moment. It encompasses two important concepts: awareness and acceptance. You have to be completely aware of what's happening in present moment and aware of your inner self. But you also have to be ready to accept everything that's happening to you because it's the only way to overcome it and move on. I think people in general are not actually mindful and that's the reason why we're running away of our problems. But we can practice some mindful activities in our everyday lives. For example we can meditate because meditation can help us to concentrate on present moment, to become more aware of our thoughts and feelings etc. But except meditation, there are so many ways to achieve mindfulness and it's nothing special actually. That can be just ussual daily walk or meal with people you love or by yourself which even doesn't matter, listening music, talking with other people. There is important just one thing, whatever you do, do it with enjoyment and think just about the thing you do right now, not what you'll do after or you did before, just indulge in the present. Mindfulness practice can be very beneficial for us. It can help us to become more patient which gives us possibility to easier accept problems and when acceptance is there, solution will come very fast. Mindfulness has to be present in every aspect of our lives. One really important aspect where it has to be is school, university and education in general. It has positive impacts on both, students and teachers. Concept of mindfulness could and should be implemented in education but question is how. I think that schools and universities could organise special classes for students and for teachers separately where they can talk about importance of mindfulness and apply some mindful activities. Those can be classes where they can relax and they can maintain at least one time or two times in week. That can help them to reduce stress and become more happier and more interested in school. How can I apply mindfulness as future educator? First of all, I have to apply it in my everyday life and it doesn't come over night. We have to be aware that everything we want to achieve has to be trainned. So doing some practices for mindfulness in privately will help is in our job and any other aspect. 60. Attention is more important to teachers today than ever with the growth of technology - and the growing distraction that comes with it. Educators or teachers do not need any tools or even formal training to incorporate mindfulness into their teaching. Classroom instruction can begin with a three-minute exercise at the beginning of the lecture and begin from there. There are countless articles and books and videos about attention. The only way to really understand and use consciousness is to practice.

I find that the definition of mindfulness is different for everyone. We all have our inner unrest and we have to find ways to deal with it. Mindfulness and its methods must be adjusted according to our characteristics. As for the technique, I think that the main breathing technique is designed so that a person focuses on himself and the way he functions. Since breathing is a prerequisite for life, and if we forget to “breathe,” we are dead. Dead inside. If we focus on the source of our life, we will find that it takes so little to end our life, just as it takes so little to continue. If we are constantly aware of this fact, we will see that there are more beautiful and vivid colors, we will finally listen to hear the sounds around us, we will experience our own emotions and those of other people. We will do everything to maintain awareness of the precious gift given to us - life. Therefore, we will try to use it in the best possible way, not allowing negative forces to drag us to their side. Constant awareness of the better sides of life is the key to happiness. And that key, once we make it, we have to pass on to future generations. We must not allow future generations to live in our unconscious. We will achieve this by teaching children about mindfulness, when we notice anxiety in children in class, approach them, tell them to listen to their heartbeat, to hear their breathing, to close their eyes and see what makes them happy. It is certain that such a technique would improve the quality of classes and, of course, it would contribute to the life of each child individually. And then we could hope through two generations that we would finally get a healthy and functional society.

  63. Hello,
mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness is a quality that every human being already possesses, it’s not something you have to conjure up, you just have to learn how to access it.

    The types of mindfulness practice:
While mindfulness is innate, it can be cultivated through proven techniques. Here are some examples:

    1. Seated, walking, standing, and moving meditation (it’s also possible lying down but often leads to sleep);
    2. Short pauses we insert into everyday life;
3.Merging meditation practice with other activities, such as yoga or sports.

The mindfulness symbol is about time and space, past, present and future. It resembles a water drop, brings you to the present moment, the centre, the drop existing both in and out of the water, part of the water, part of the air. The drop is the present moment, the point of contact, the centre of everything.

  64. Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present. While mindfulness is something we all naturally possess, it’s more readily available to us when we practice on a daily basis. The goal of mindfulness is to wake up to the inner workings of our mental, emotional, and physical processes. Mindfulness is now being examined scientifically and has been found to be a key element in stress reduction and overall happiness. Being mindful helps you become fully engaged in activities. Many people who practice mindfulness find that they are less likely to get caught up in worries about the future. Mindfulness is available to us in every moment, whether through meditations and body scans, or mindful moment practices like taking time to pause and breathe.

  65. Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present, aware of what we are doing. We can practice it everytime and everywhere, for example when we are walking or sitting we can take a deep breath. People that practice mindfulness are more patient and it also reduce our stress. It's important for us, future teacher, because we are going to face with a lot of stressful situations in our job. That's because we should keep our mind clear and be fully aware of what students are saying and doing at the moment. Meditation is one way of practicing mindfulness but it's not just in our heads, it's in our body too. We must be aware of our body too. It's also important to teach students about mindfulness - we can practice meditation in the end of the lesson or at school brake.

  66. Mindfulness means to direct attention, to be present and aware. It can help us to gather our thoughts, to calm down and to react calmly in some situations.
How can we do that? With our eyes closed take a deep breath and exhale a few times. Notice the sensations and movements associated with breathing. Or sit on a straight-backed chair or cross-legged on the floor.
We need to make sure we are helping pupils learn better and if mindfulness can help with that, of course we'll try everything. We can start experimenting in the classroom with practices that used breathing and mindful listening.

  67. We live in a world where stress has become our daily routine. Problems at work, at school, in family, with friends, it all affects our emotional state and our mind. In order to reduce stress and live a more relieved life, we use the concept of mindfulness. Practicing mindfulness can help us with stress, lack of sleep, depression, anxiety, sadness, anger and all the negative feelings. We achieve this by focusing on what we are doing in the moment. Focusing on the moment is called awareness. In the process, we do not allow other people's actions or opinions to affect our, but accept them as they are, without trying to resist it. We become aware of our thoughts and feelings happening in the moment, paying attention to the sound, sight, smell, taste, etc. There are also many types of meditation to improve our mindfulness. Schools are a great place for children to learn to reduce stress and fear, and to perform their duties more relieved, while teachers can more easily lead classes and help children develop a happy life.
