Teaching Profession in the 21st century
Hello everyone!
I hope that you are all
safe and sound at your homes, together with your families, and that you fully
and unexceptionally respect all of the (self-) isolation and prevention
measures required by the competent authorities in order to prevent the spread
of covid-19 infection.
As lessons are being taught online these days,
we will try to make the content of the ESP (English for Specific Purposes)
course available through this blog, and thus somehow combine the enjoyable with
the useful, as we will also have the opportunity to relate to each other and
exchange our views and ideas on various topics. Thus, we could make at least a virtual
social contact when we can no longer have the kind of live social interaction
we've been used to so far. However, we do hope that this situation will not
last too long.
Our first topic is
'Teaching Profession in the 21st century'. As you are students of a teacher
training faculty who will soon become teachers themselves, it is inevitable to
think about the teaching profession nowadays and how it has been changing
rapidly both for those already in the profession and for those now entering it,
so that it could keep up with the demands and challenges of the 21st century.
Teachers have always
been the cornerstone of any education system. They are considered to be
ultimatively responsible for providing encouragement and support to children
and young people to acquire and develop the knowledge and skills that will be
essential to them if they are to become professionals in their field and active
citizens with a commitment to social progress and prosperity. Therefore, the
task of being a teacher has become even more complex today than it used to be
before. In our globalized world, it is assumed that the contemporary education
should meet the challenges of a society that is esentially based on the
so-called 'knowledge economy'. Recent technological advances have affected all
aspects of our life, including the way we communicate, collaborate, learn, and,
of course, teach. With so much information readily available to them, 21st
century students focus more on making sense of that information, sharing and
using it in smart ways. Teachers are expected to keep up with these new ways of
learning.
The global changes that
took place all over the world have changed the roles of teachers, too. In the
past, according to the old paradigm and the authoritarian model, the teacher
used to be the major source of knowledge, the leader and educator of students.
Teachers used to be the authority in the class and often took over the role of
parents. Today, the teacher's role is more of a facilitator, a contributor, or
even an integrator. The teacher's goal now is to monitor the teaching process
and view a student not only as a teaching object but, what is more important,
make the student the object of the teaching process. Thus, there has been a
huge shift from the model of teacher-centered education to the model of student-centered
education. Nowadays, the focus is on the student and the possibility to help
each student to develop to his/her full potential. Teachers are now expected to
provide information and show their students how to tackle them. Therefore,
teachers in modern classrooms are no longer lecturers, they are facilitators
whose main task is to set goals and organize the learning process accordingly.
Furthermore, according
to the demands imposed by our modern society and numerous educational reforms,
a teacher should not only be a provider of knowledge and skills, but also have
a positive attitude towards innovations and feel the necessity for
self-education and lifelong learning in order to stay up-to-date with current
educational trends and technology. Teachers are expected to develop their professional
skills and always try to be “an effective model of competence” (Jerome Bruner,
1976).
However, it is evident
that the degree of responsibility that society has conferred on teachers would
not appear to have been matched by a similar degree of social recognition of
the teaching profession. The kind of recognition that would help to attract and
retain more teachers of quality in schools. Therefore, the appropriate
interpretation of what being a good education professional means in the 21st
century would appear to be one of the vital issues to the provision of the
quality education today.
Based on all of the
above mentioned, we cannot help but ask ourselves these questions:
What does being a good
education professional mean in the 21st century?
What competencies do
teachers need in the 21st century?
What initial and
ongoing training do they need?
What are the qualities
required of teachers to teach 21st century learners?
Is it expected of
teachers today to have 21st century mindsets, be lifelong learners,
adventurous, innovative and imaginative?
How can the most
talented and motivated young people be attracted to the teaching profession?
How can the best
teachers be retained in schools? etc.
Think about these and
many other questions related to this topic, and share your opinions and ideas with your colleagues on
this blog.
Best regards,
Marija Bekić
OdgovoriIzbrišiIn my opinion, every teacher is a unique individual, which means that what each one brings to the teaching process is themselves. This brings us to different types of teachers we can encounter today.
What matters is that every teacher, independent of the time that they were born and they work in, knows and loves their job and is willing to dedicate themselves to the fullest. Also, they must be ready to adapt and learn to deal with every situation in front if them, even if it appears to be unmanageable.
In 2020 we are lucky to have all the possible means at our disposable, such as the Internet, which makes working much easier than back in 1960s. But we need to know how to best utilize them and how to best direct our research.
One thing that is important to point out in the current situation with the corona virus is the persistence of teachers to enable online lectures through the internet and TV.
I also want to show my admiration for the people who worked this job in the past centuries, with much less materials and available information.
I absolutely agree with you that you really need to give great importance to all the educators who, with much less material and probably in worse conditions, have nevertheless kept teaching and bleached many generations on the right path. Also, those who, in emergencies situation provided teaching in the best and most acceptable way for children. That's right, technology has made a lot of progress today, but it also needs to be used with care.
IzbrišiBest regards
Hello Marija, I agree with you that in 21st century we are definitely lucky to have all these modern technologies, so it is much easier to find different ideas for our profession than it was in the past. Aida Rogo, PO4.
IzbrišiHiii! :)
IzbrišiMarija, I agree but does this mean that teachers need to be independent learners, responsive yet critical consumers and selectors and adaptable to the imposed and rapid changes surrounding them?
Hi, Marija! Do you think in the future technology will replace teachers?
IzbrišiSumeja Krehmić
"I also want to show my admiration for the people who worked this job in the past centuries, with much less materials and available information." 👏👏👏
IzbrišiDear Alma, I think that teachers need to be independent learners!
IzbrišiDear Sumeja, in my opinion tehnology will not replace teachers because we need feedback!
I can tell that the teachers are very important from our birth throw our all life. First, our parnets are our firs teachers. It's very nice and amazing to hear: "Look, I made it, my teacher help me", "Yes, this is my teacher." These are some nice things of our life. I still remeber my teacher, she was briliant. Every time I can speak about her I always do that. Yes, this is 21st century and some things changed. Teachers are not like in the past. Today is difernet, buut they are still teachers. They need to do a lot of things to be the best. Studnets and teachers do together. They, together, make amazing things. Students getting knowladge, teachers are getting good experience. Today is very diferent, we have a lot of materials, Internet. Teachers getting a lot of ideas from the Internet. They learn and study every day and always can use Internet, they couldn't do this 30 or more years ago. Mirhu
OdgovoriIzbrišiWhy do you think your teacher was great? Do you remember some competences of him?
IzbrišiYes, I mean that. She was amazing😊Nowdays I meet her on the street, a she still has that smile, the way how she speaks with me...
IzbrišiShe learned me basic things, and the most important to me to be good person. Every subject she had special method to teach us, every. That's true, and still I remember her methods. She is still teacher and when you ask children about her. First what they will tell you about her is: "My teacher".😊This sentence is another story😊😊Thank you for ask, realy...🤗🤗🤗

IzbrišiHey Mirhu 👋
IzbrišiDo you think it's hard to find quality content for students?
What is your advice to separate accurate and quality content from the opposite ones?
Hi Mirhu,
IzbrišiYou're very lucky to have a teacher like that, and I had a similar situation. Years and years have passed but his laught, his approach to the board, his student, his attitude, his entrance into the classroom are a great step that is awe-inspiring but full of love, I absolutely remember everything ...
I was in a lot of pain when he left ... to a nicer place ... :(
Hello Mirhu! How
Izbrišiare you? Today is the most beautiful day this month. And I am thinking about my teacher in highschool. That man deserves a medal, because he is a legend! So I understand what you mean when you say that teacher is a second parent. Take care, I love you.
Marija Bekić
Hi, Antonela, yes today is very difficult to find good way to speak and understand students, today is diferent, but if we listen our students, kids, we will know what to do, what we need to do better, and what we need to change!
IzbrišiMirhunisa Majdanac, PO4
Hi Nerma, I'm sorry to hear that, but you are rich, you have memories and you have what to talk, and you know how to be good teacher.
IzbrišiMirhunisa Majdanac, PO4
Hi Marija, it nice to hear that you remember your teacher, and it nice to hear that someone understand you.
IzbrišiMirhunisa Majdanac, PO4
Hi Mirhu :)
IzbrišiBy the time I read your announcements, I remembered my teacher from elementary school. I thank you for that.
Teachers are the foundation of society. If there were no teachers, many people would be lost. So every society needs a leader, and I think the best leaders of the society are teachers!
Dženeta Kovač.
In my opinion, teachers are a very important factor in our community. They shape us, they direct us. They give us tips on how to build yourself into good and helpful people. The attitude towards education has changed over time. So did the different attitudes and prejudices about teachers. At one time, a teacher was only considered as a transmitter of finished information. Today is a different situation. Teachers of today have almost replaced the responsibilities that family once did. For example, upbringing. This puts the role of the teacher at a higher level. Teachers of today are respected and respected.
OdgovoriIzbrišiHi dear Dzemila, I'm very glad to meet you. I'm even more pleased to see and meet someone who has this opinion about us teachers. Today, we are much underestimated and consider ourselves exactly as you said "transmiter of finished information". Thank you for this comment made me very happy in these now difficult and gloomy days.
IzbrišiBest regards
Hello Dzemila,
IzbrišiI totally agree with you.
Exact the fact that the teachers have almost replaced the responsibilities of our parents is the reason why they have to introduce modern technologies to the student as well as social media than as we now social media has its dark sides and students have to know about them.
Hi dear Dzenila,
IzbrišiEverything can change during time, the role of the teacher too. In past times the teacher was a person that was giving information to students very strictly. Today is very different and I am so happy that the students can share that friendly relationship with educational staff. Also, I am happy that we can talk with those children about every situation that they are getting through.
Lejla, RN4
Dear Džemila, I agree with everxthing have you written. Do you think that the traditional way of teaching is better than the modern one or not?
IzbrišiDear Fuada, Technologies have contributed to a better teaching process. For this reason, I think that the newer era of teaching is better than the traditional one.
IzbrišiHi Meliha. I'm glad we share the same opinion.
IzbrišiHi Semira, Exactly. Teachers almost replaced the role of the family itself. I think it affects the child badly. The child first needs a family.
IzbrišiHi Lejla, Of course, as times change, so does the approach itself. Teachers have become a substitute for family, which is not good.
IzbrišiThat is exactly what I was thinking. Teachers are a very important part of our life, since they are no longer only considered people who will give us assignments to do. Teachers have not become a substitute for family yet, by my opinion, but they are a small, important part of a student's life, especially from a young age. I like the current teacher-student relationship in Bosnia. Well, at least the one I have come across.
IzbrišiHi Ermin,
IzbrišiI'm glad we share the same opinion.
Well Džemila, l believe that teachers are not respected in the society as they should be.
IzbrišiHi Amila,
IzbrišiI agree with you, the propensity of teachers is not recognized in society as they should.
Dear Džemila, I agree with your opinion, but I think in 21 Century teachers are not respected as they should be.
IzbrišiBeing a good education professional in the 21st century means being a facilitator, someone who helps the student become an object of the teaching process. The competencies that the teachers need include lifelong learning, innovativeness, openness to different psychological profiles and leadership. Indeed, the teacher’s training is a lifelong process, where they must develop both technological skills to keep up with today’s times and the social skills of working with students that are becoming more shut-in and estranged in today’s society. Teachers must have modern mindsets, be lifelong students themselves, as well as adventurous, innovative and imaginative. What’s important in attracting the most talented and motivated young people to the teaching profession includes the same as retaining the best teachers in schools, and that is: social recognition, adequate reward systems—both financial and otherwise—and allowing them to be autonomous and individualistic in their approach to their profession.
OdgovoriIzbrišiDear Meliha,
IzbrišiI agree with eveything you have written, but I need esplecially set aside this senetence: "What’s important in attracting the most talented and motivated young people to the teaching profession includes the same as retaining the best teachers in schools, and that is: social recognition, adequate reward systems—both financial and otherwise—and allowing them to be autonomous and individualistic in their approach to their profession."
Hello Meliha.
IzbrišiNow, when you know many things about teaching and how to be a good teacher, I want to ask you a question. Can you tell me what like your teacher was?
We, future teachers are in the face of challenges all of the time. It sometimes can be a little scary how much knowledge we must own. It is always unknown what a child in class can ask or which one type of technology we must use.
OdgovoriIzbrišiI should to admit, it isn't easy but always is important learn something new, every second, very minute, every hour...
It is for sure expected of teachers today to have 21st century mindsets, be lifelong learners, adventurous, innovative and imaginative. Exept that we have to be creative, humane and careful people. We have to understand the world of kids because we are role model for them. We must be up-to-date teachers.
Teachers are very important factor in education. So it isn't all the same who are them. I think that every employed teacher must be a good person who love kids, and he enjoys work with them. That persons always should to encourage in right way.
I like how you think. Are you always trying to learn something new and to improve your knowledge, your skills?
IzbrišiYes, certailny. Why not to use every opportunity to learn something?
IzbrišiIn my opinion, teachers are very important. They teach and educate us from our early childhood. In the past, it was opinion that the teachers only transmit information. Today is different situation. Today teachers have more responsibilities and they are upbringing us.
OdgovoriIzbrišiHi Sibila ! I agree with you. Teachers play a significant role in the development of the complete personality of the student. They are the ones who teach us true values, help us to acquire knowledge from different fields etc.. Goodbye !
IzbrišiMedina Kunić , Department for class teaching-4 th year
Hi Sibila! I absolutely agree with you and I am glad that old opinion about teachers and teaching is in the past. Today's teacher are more respected and I am very happy about that because most of us here will become one of them in the future.
IzbrišiHi Sibila. I agree with you. Technologies have contributed to a better teaching process. It is the teachers who choose the content, of course, very carefully.
IzbrišiHi Sibila! Do you think that teachers feel empowered to make decisions?
IzbrišiHi Samira. No, I don't think so.
IzbrišiFor children teachers are like the other family, someone they spend significant amount of time with. Children are always trying to copy our behaviour and in some of us they find their life role models or idols. That's why we must have some knowledge in every fild. This is made easier for us in new age. Now, we can find everything we can imagine on internet. There we can fine new and creative ideas which help keeping children interested, motivated and help us facilitate they learning.
OdgovoriIzbrišiHi Sandra ! I agree with you. It is your teachers who, after their parents, are the ones who teach us and at the same time bring us up. They help us become better people . Their goal is to be better people and to pass on our knowledge to other people around us. The role of the teacher is not easy . The teacher seeks to focus all his or her power on his students so that students can more easily acquire certain knowledge, skills, etc. Goodbye :)
IzbrišiMedina Kunić , Department for class teaching-4 th year
Hi Sandra! Everything you just wrote is truth, and I agree with you. Some teachers have more time and love for children in school than their parents have at home.
IzbrišiHello Sandra. I agree with everything have you written. What do you think what is professional teacher?
IzbrišiDear Sandra, I agree with you. Do you think things about this topic will get better or worse in a few years? I think better, in this technological world, everything will be easier.
IzbrišiBeing a teacher at any level requires a significant amount of knowledge and skill. Paying attention to the core competencies for educators helps to ensure that all teachers and others who work in education are prepared to make kindergarten a positive experience for kids and their families. A good professional in the 21st century means mastering knowledge, skills.
OdgovoriIzbrišiA great teacher respects kids. The great teacher creates a sense of community and belonging in the kindergarten. The great teacher is warm, accessible, enthusiastic and caring. The great teacher has his own love of learning. The great teacher is a skilled leader. The great teacher collaborates with colleagues on an ongoing basis. The great teacher maintains professionalism in all areas.
Belkisa, I like your opinion! Do you think that the traditional way of teaching is better than the modern one or not?
IzbrišiSelma Jordamović, Department for class teaching - 4th year
Dear Belkisa, well said. I agree with your opinion. I also think that it's getting harder to be the teacher who can follw student's work. Teacher sometimes works very hard to keep that warm feeling in her or his classroom. In that way the teacher wants to improve education and educational skills.
IzbrišiHi Belkisa, i agree with you. Can you tell which abilities teacher must have to be a great teacher?
IzbrišiWe are witnesses that eudcational sytem is changing every single day. Teachers and educational workers became very fexible population. We must adapt to the children. We must think about their needs, time and habbits. All those new gadgets improve their working skills and studying but also change hole concept of teaching. Technology also makes some problems to the parents too. Now, the teachers only follow their development and skill evolution. Because of that, they have less impact in their improvment. Technology should been only the helping component in teaching. It shouldn't been directly connected in interaction between teacher and student. Teacher would have all the freedom and less stress in educational system.
OdgovoriIzbrišiLejla, what are the problems that technology creates for parents?
IzbrišiŠejla Nahić, RN IV
I agree with you Lejla. Teachers shouldn’t let technology to take over the things, even if there are many good sides of technology, it shouldn’t be all about it. What do you think how could they improve that ?
IzbrišiLejla, are teachers critical in terms of curriculum content?
Izbriši
IzbrišiDear šejla, as a key problem, I would single out the uncontrolled review of the content that students search.
Hi Neira :)
We will improve by offering students new, diverse and interesting content every day and better than those offered by modern technology.
Hi Samira :) When it comes to the curriculum planned by the curriculum, I would not want to advertise teachers who critically think they will seek and that it will be best in every teacher to contain to make it easier for children to learn.
When we chose to become teachers, we were all already aware of the importance and responsibility we will have once we get our degree.
OdgovoriIzbrišiTeachers are often the first children's role models in addition to parents. In my opinion, the role of the teacher has not changed since ancient times, although the circumstances around us have changed. I believe that every teacher, regardless of time and space, should always have the same qualities: patience, dedication, he must love his work, and strive to always be an inspiration to his students. In the times we live in, it is much easier to teach, so we need to properly and wisely take advantage of all the benefits we have been given, for ourselves and for our students. We just have to take the best out of what the times we live in offer us.
I agree completly with you in subject that present time brought many advantages which make teaching and studying easier.
IzbrišiDear colleague I am sure you will also be a great inspiration to your students.
Thanks, dear Antonela, that's the goal :)
IzbrišiThe world is changing so the teachnig profession is also changing. Being a teacher in today's world is a real challenge. This means that teacher must adapt to changes in society. They have to stay up-to-date with current educational trends and technology ( we see that on the present situation with covid-19 ). Also, an effective 21st century educator must be able to collaborate and work well within a team. Sharing their expirience, communicating and learning from others is an important part of teaching process.
OdgovoriIzbrišiThe 21 st century requiers a different approach for both children and parents because this new times expects different expectations form teachers then in the past. Inclusion has also brought many changes. Teachers need to create individual plans and programs, and in addition, get other students to involve in changes.
In addition to constant changes and problems this profession is still very beautiful and important for develop of future generations.
Hi Antonela. :)
IzbrišiI completely agree with you. I would also like to add that it would be so useful for teachers if there were organised conferences, courses, presentations, etc. to help us improve all the trials working in 21st century brings us. :)
Hi Antonela! I totally agree with you.
IzbrišiDo you think that we, as students of this faculty, have enough knowledge to be teachers in the digital era?
Bajrić, Amra
Hi Amra. Thanks for your comment.
IzbrišiI think it would be desirable to have more hours of computer science, but as a generation that grew up in the world of modern technology I think we are our own teachers day by day.
Teachers living in the 21st century have to keep up with current developments and realize these new opportunities, the technology can offer. This is even more pressing as the covid-19 pandemic has truly proved its importance and its handiness.
OdgovoriIzbrišiNowadays uploading videos or blogs online seems to be as normal as can be, hence it is a great pleasure that I get to experience the perks of online teaching since it would have never been possible in the past.
Hello Semira. :)
IzbrišiDo you think online teaching will become a completely "normal" and basic way of teaching in the future? :)
Hi Semira! Do you think that the kids will be at a loss with online classes?
IzbrišiSelma Jordamović, Department for class teaching - 4th year
Hello Semira, I would totally agree with you.
IzbrišiŠejla Nahić, RN IV
Hello again.
OdgovoriIzbrišiI think that a good education professional in the 21th century means that we have knowledge, that we are open to new options, new ways of teaching. Teachers shouldn't teach students nowadays like they used to teach students before. It means that teacher should always trying to improve his teaching and be innovative.
When we are talking about competencies that teacher should have, at first teacher should have knowledge of students and their development. They should connect students' prior learning, life experiences amd interests with learning goals. Teacher should be good at lesson plan design. They must be capable of designing lesson plans to meet student needs and cover the standards. They should be able to assess, able to collaborate with other teachers and school stuff, to be good in communication. And these are only some of competencies that teacher should have.
But in the 21st century the teachers, unfortunately, are less valuable than before. Today the teachers have more troubles with the parents than with the students. I think that it's expected from teacher to be lifelong learner, innovative and imaginative. Because it's important to improve yourself and your teaching. It's important to be imaginative because the students will be imaginative too. It's not okay to always have the same kind of teaching. We should try to make it interesting, to encourage students to work and to be creative themselves. We should teach them to critical thinking and many other things. Because teacher is the one who sets the base.
First of all, every teacher must love his or her profession, be a qualified professional and permanently improve his or her skills.
OdgovoriIzbrišiCurrent online teaching has just shown the current state of teachers in Bosnia and Herzegowina regarding the modern way of education. I believe that our education system should invest much more in the technical education of teachers who did not have the opportunity during their own studies to learn about modern ways of teaching. On the other hand, every teacher has to give his or her maximum to master the necessary skills for teaching in the 21st century. Teachers who use modern technology in teachings will be expected to help their colleagues who do not know how to use modern technology.
Selma Jordamović, Department for class teaching - 4th year
You completely have the point Selma. Our education sistem is so poor when it comes about online studying and any kind of technology in teaching, and we made it sure in this situation that’s going on, so teachers have to manage how ever they know and that’s not always effective.
IzbrišiHello Selma! You are completely right, I agree with you. Like I said in my commentary, it's much more challenging teaching children about the 20th century. In my opinion, the world was much kinder without modern technology, true values were appreciated, but the fact is, the teachers have it much easier nowadays. I believe that's the reason teachers were much more respected than today. Best regards, Marija Bekic PO4
IzbrišiTeachers help us to better acquire knowledge , skills and the like. The teacher is expected to be a complete peronality to know how to transfer their knowledge , etc. The competences that a teacher must have in the 21 st century are as follows:must know digital technology, be creative, know how and how to refer students to sources of knowledge etc. Goodbye! Medina Kunić , Department for class teaching - 4th year.
OdgovoriIzbrišiWell when we talk about teaching profession nowdays we can say that it has certanly changed compared to the teaching profession, for example, 50 years ago. We can see those changes esspecally in our region. A lot of the things have happend in the last 50 years in our country. Transition form comunism to some kind of democracy, war, a new form of goverment and a lot of other things that happend certanly had a big influence in all parts of socienty. Also, a big changes and reforms have happend all around world. So we can talk about new, „modern“, society. Needs of this society are certalny not same as the needs of society before. Therefore things in system of education have changed.
OdgovoriIzbrišiAll of those changes have mainly affected teachers and their needs. In accordance with all of the techical capabilities nowday teachers have more possibilities but also more responsebilities and obligations. Todays teacher needs not only to have knowladge but to be creative and deal with all of the possibilites and responsebilities that modern technology birngs. Certalny teachers have to be lifelong learners, adventurous, innovative and imaginative and to seek every day for the chance to improve their knowladge and experience in all spheres of life. All of that in order to give more to kids. Also, they have to be aware of fact that in their classroom today might be sitting the future doctor, president, lawyer, farmer, enterprenuer or robber, murderer or thief. It certanly depends on teacher what those little creatures are going to be in the future and what kind of values they will bring with them into life. Of course all of that also depends on society and various circumstances but teachers and parents have the biggest influence and rensponsibility for children in that period of life.
At the end I would like to share a quote with all of you. As future educators we should be aware of this and think about it in order to be better teacher and better person:
“The future of the world is in my classroom today, a future with the potential for good or bad... Several future presidents are learning from me today; so are the great writers of the next decades, and so are all the so-called ordinary people who will make the decisions in a democracy. I must never forget these same young people could be the thieves and murderers of the future. Only a teacher? Thank God I have a calling to the greatest profession of all! I must be vigilant every day, lest I lose one fragile opportunity to improve tomorrow.”
― Ivan Welton Fitzwater
Hi Emir, what do you think about theachers today?
IzbrišiI forgot, Mirhunisa Majdamac, PO4
IzbrišiHello Mirhunisa. Well, I believe that today's teachers have many opportunities to do teach in many, maybe for students more interesting, ways. If we use our imagination and combine it with modern technology, I believe, we can do a lot, and student's knowledge will be more permanent and better. I believe that every teacher seeks for that and they give their best to achieve it.
IzbrišiHi everyone!
OdgovoriIzbrišiI read your comments, and I agree with you. Teacher are the most important proffesion in our community, because we educate future doctor, engineer, fireman, etc. After parents we are the first who work and rainsing the whole personality of the child. The attitude towards education has changed over time. So did the different attitudes and prejudices about teachers. That is why we need to adapt to the time we live in, taking into account the quality of the teaching process. Also I agree that our proffesion not appreciated enough, but when we saw our students how grow up, how they look at us,love us, appreciate our effort, I think is that best revard for one teacher. What to do to make us appreciate more? First, value ourselves and our profession, help each other, try to be the best at what we do.Dont you think so?
Hi Dzenita, you are totally right. We are important drop in the sea.
IzbrišiHi, Dženita,I think we all need to raise awareness among people, to value the profession itself as a teacher.
IzbrišiHello Dženita, I agree with you that teacher is maybe the most important profession in our community because teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions like doctor, fireman, engineer etc. Stay safe and bye :)
IzbrišiAutor je uklonio komentar.
IzbrišiHello dear Dženita.
IzbrišiI agree with everything. And I like how you think.
Yes, we educate future doctor, engineer... but I think first of all we teach them to be good person. That is the goal :)
Hamida Tatarević, PO4
Hello dear Dženita.
IzbrišiI agree with everything.
I think first of all we teach them to be good person.
Which is the first and primary goal.
Amina Ramic, PO4
Hi everyone, again!
OdgovoriIzbrišiThis is very interesting topic to talk about. I absolutely agree with that teachers are the most important persons because they are second parents to the children in schools and they are big part of their lives. Teachers educate "our future" because that kids, they are educating, are future generations of doctors, policemans, writers etc. Being a teacher in today's world means that you have to adapt to whatever comes your way. Teacher have to think forward and prepare children for what's is going to come in the future. Teachers don't just expect their student to be a lifelong learner, but they are as well. They stay up-to-date with current educational trends and technology and they know how to tweak their old lesson plans to make them more current.
"Teachers, who educate children, deserve more honor than parents, who merely gave them birth; for the latter provided mere life, while the former ensured a good life."
-Aristotel
Life is changing, people are changing, time is changing. Society is making progress, having in mind various technical knowledge. In the era of modern technology, the teacher must undoubtedly possess a set of knowledge and skills, in line with current trends. This includes computer skills and the ability to hold online teaching. I think that is the only real difference between modern teachers and their predecessors. In any case, a good teacher always possesses qualities that set him apart from the rest. Life in the 21st century is fast. There are new discoveries. New technologies. New education, as well as "new school". In such a modern school, the teacher not only has to bring new things to the children, but also has to connect past times and generations. Each profession, of course, has its own characteristics. The teacher should have a distinct individuality and a desire to make the world a better place. It also requires creativity, confidence in students, as well as a desire to work hard for their own ideas and ideals. This is exactly how I imagine a modern teacher. Although much has changed in education, it is still the teacher who represents the students. A quality teacher believes in the strength of his students, and helps them to improve. The modern teacher is a teacher-researcher, a kind of student supervisor. He teaches children, but at the same time develops his skills, so that new generations of students in the teacher see a real example. I am sure that 21st century teachers, as well as teachers from all previous periods, should be interesting people, correct and rigorous, but also reasonable and honest, respecting their students.

Teachers need to be flexible, easy to adapt to new environments and
OdgovoriIzbrišisituations and continually improve to help students, based on the positive opinion they have about to their teachers, formed positive attitudes about school, self-education, lifelong learning
education and knowledge in general.
There are certain competences that teachers should adopt throughout their lifelong learning and develop them systematically. Some of
these competencies are: taking responsibility for personal and professional development, working with learning sources and teaching,
knowledge of the subject curriculum, understanding of the learning process, application of inclusive practices, evaluation
learning and skills development for the 21st century.
I think the education system has changed a lot over the years. I believe that with the advent of new technology, there are many more ways to learn quality. Also, I think with the advent of technology, teachers can find a lot of creative ideas for teaching lessons. This would make the lessons much more interesting for the students. I think a good teacher is a teacher who is kind to students. The qualities that teachers need to teach students are: responsibility, understanding, love for their work, tolerance. Also, I believe that teachers should have a good sense of humor, that they should respect and love all children.
OdgovoriIzbrišiHi Amera, I totally agree with you. I think that technology can't replace teacher but technology can to assist teachers in their work.
IzbrišiHello Amera!
IzbrišiI agree with your opinion.
The expectations of teachers in the 21st century are many and divers. The function and role of teachers and educators has changed in accordance with the requirements of time and society, transformed and supplemented. Rapid and significant changes, advanced sciences, technologies and societies have led to various changes in the classical understanding of the role of teachers. Function and role change not only in the meaning of the content of the quarrel, but also in the understanding of the students, their relationship to them and the achievement of the goals of the educational process. The teacher no longer just provided information, he became more and more a representative of society, a source of knowledge, student helpers, a sample, a caretaker, a group leader, a substitute parent, a friend, a trusted person, etc.
OdgovoriIzbrišiA competent teacher loves his job and pedagogical tact provokes student satisfaction with teachers. He has enthusiasm, integrity, honesty to himself, fairness, righteousness, attentiveness, caring, modesty, demanding according to the student's abilities and abilities, supporting and listening to student-individual questions and problems, recognizing individual efforts and guidance and the like.
Hi Selma :)
IzbrišiI totally agree with you. A competent teacher must have all the things you listed like enthusiasm, integrity etc...
In my opinion, teachers have always been, and always will be the most important “layer” of our society. Doctors, lawyers, athletes, surgeons, they all had their teachers! As someone who is going to be a classroom teacher, I think that we have such an important role in those little kids lives. We shape their little minds, we teach them how to behave, we refer them to follow their dreams, to go after what they want to be and what they want to do. So teachers need to be open minded, creative and resourceful. Not everyone can be a teacher! It’s normal that the way of teaching is changing through the time, because new things are appearing and we need to be innovative. It’s very important to put an accent on functional learning, and that is exactly what technology brought us. We can find many ideas online, we can also exchange our ideas and experiences and we can visually show some things to our students. Everything can be good for us if we use it in a right way!

Now that we are in a difficult situation, we have witnessed that these professions (doctors, teachers...) are of greatest importance to a society.
Ensar Halvadžija, RN IV
Hi Neira!
IzbrišiI totally agree with you.
The world is changing and there is hardly anything in life that is not changing. On the other hand, the teacher's role hasn’t changed. From my standpoint, the teaching profession requires the human element (highly creative, understanding, empathy, etc) which technology can't in any way replace. Technology can be used as an educational means but can't ever replace a teacher.
OdgovoriIzbrišiŠejla Nahić, RN IV
Hello Šejla, I totally agree with you.
IzbrišiHi Šejla!
IzbrišiI agree with your opinion, technology can't ever replace teachers.
Hello,
OdgovoriIzbrišiIn my opinion, Teachers are in a unique position to have a direct impact on life of their students. They shape students, and make better persons from them. Teachers educate students, but not only that, they should inspire them to do big thing in their lifes. We can conclude that teachers can be a role models to their students. So times are changing, technology is growning, and teachers must follow all those things. They have to be good in IT, because today blogs, webinars, “distance learning” and other online things are very popular. A lof of tools, and techniques are usefull to implement in teaching.
Hi Amna,

IzbrišiTeachers do much more than simply teach subject material. A being teacher is not just being an educator. It is the job of a teacher to teach problem solving, teamwork, to encourage and to build self esteem. Teachers need to be in control at all times and are responsible for managing, leading, and directing others. Technology can't replace teachers because technology can't make a difference to a child. A teacher can make a real difference in the life of child. Every child is unique. Each child comes with their own unique family background, socioeconomic status, personal strengths and weaknesses, level of academic ability, and social skills.
OdgovoriIzbrišiValentina Šutalo, RNIV
IzbrišiHi Valentina, I agree with you. Every child is unique. Every child should be given the same amount of attention and love.
IzbrišiDear Valentina,
IzbrišiI totally agree with you, technology can't replace teachers.
In my opinion, teachers should be versatile personalities. We are also musicians and artists, psychologists, educators ... all in one. Today, as in any profession, it is necessary to invest in your knowledge, abilities and skills. Teachers are expected to be lifelong learners.
OdgovoriIzbrišiIn order to be successful, teacher should constantly think about his competences and find out a way to improve it.
There are certain competencies that teachers should acquire and develop throughout their lifelong learning.
Some of these competencies are: taking responsibility for personal and professional development, working with sources of learning and teaching,
knowledge of subject curriculum, understanding of the learning process, application of inclusive practice, integration of ICT, evaluation of learning and skills development for the 21st century.
During school practice I had chance to attend classes of teachers whose work and desire to move forward I truly admire. And all of that knowledge and experience they tend to appropriately apply in their class with students. The results of the students in their classes speak for themselves.
Being a teacher today is a demanding job that requires innovation, imagination, creativity.
Changes in society, technology, communication capabilities also require changes at a personal level.
At the end we should point out that the consequences of activities of 21st century teachers are preparing students for life in 21st century.

First of all, theme is very interesting and there is certanly enough material to open grat discussio . But this time I would like just to praise your opinion and to thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience with all of us. It was delightful to read your comment and I think you have pointed out a great values every teacher should have.
Thank you for the comment once again and I hope to see you around again on other topics with such a great thoughts 😊
Teachers should be very smart and proffesional in their job. They should love their job and that is the most important thing. In the 21st century teachers must have several competences. Teachers used to be authority in the class, friend with kids so they can make strong relationship and confidence between each other. Teachers today should be talented and motivated, be lifelong learners, they often should be innovative so kids will love their work and don't feel bored.
OdgovoriIzbrišiIt is very hard to be teacher nowadays but thanks to technology we can search so much innovative games and lessons so kids can work and learn trought playing.

IzbrišiHi Tatjana. I agree that technology can help us in our work. Do you know any websites for teachers?
IzbrišiI think that teacher role in 21st century is as much important as it used to be before, even tough students can be much more independent now when it comes learning and researching. A good teacher in 21st century I see as someone who is ready to adapt to new tools and new ways of teaching that are being implemented in schools.
OdgovoriIzbrišiTeachers should be able to perform different pedagogical duties, to be well-spoken and tolerant, ready for collaboration, open for questions, they are also expected to be a lifelong learners ready to improve their knowledge and to be innovative.
When it comes to attractive young people to teaching profession I think we should start from the beginning of their education, be a good teacher, learn them that teaching profession is as much important as any other profession because teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions. Aida Rogo PO4
Hi Aida. When you said "A good teacher in 21st century I see as someone who is ready to adapt to new tools and new ways of teaching that are being implemented in schools." I really felt that. I totally agree with you and think that it is very important today for teachers to have that ability to adopt to new situations in educational system.
IzbrišiHello again! This is very interesting topic to talk about. We have absolutely opportunities and competencies to talk about this because we are part of this life area.
OdgovoriIzbrišiI absolutely agree with that teachers are the most important persons in the world of kids. It’s so kind to hear today that educators are one of the main person to the child.
We have an amazing influence to change and build these little beings, to teach them that we aren’t just beings, we are HUMAN BEINGS with our hearts, emotions, knowledges, worldviews, ideas and so on.
Let’s do our job the best we can!

IzbrišiHi Alma. In your opinion, what are the qualities of a good teacher?
IzbrišiHi everyone!
OdgovoriIzbrišiThe industrial revolution is long gone, as well as teaching to follow a certain routine, procedure or task. Today's world is changing by the minute and we "all" have access to such changes almost immediately. So teachers, today, have to prepare students for a world that is totally unknown, for jobs that don't exist yet, and, hopefully, those future men/women will be able to create those innovative jobs.
These are the characteristics of a 21st Century Teacher:
-Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity so that all students achieve in the global society.
-Enable students to maximize the potential of their formal and informal learning experiences.
-Facilitate learning in multiple modalities.
-Work as effective members of learning teams.
-Use the full range of digital-age tools to improve student engagement and achievement.
-Work with their students to co-create new learning opportunities.
-Use data to support student learning and program improvements.
-Be lifelong learners.

Hello Alma. I must say that I totally agree with you're opinion. Today every teacher must have some characteristics for a quality lecture. If they stay with old routine and standards they will be very far behind and don't give to students the knowledge they deserve.
IzbrišiThank you very much, Dženy.I do my best. :)
IzbrišiHello everyone.
OdgovoriIzbrišiI absolutely agree with you. Teachers are very important, because they educate children from early childhood. After parents we are the first who work with them. We educate future teacher, doctor.. but first good person.
Teachers need to be flexible at any moment, creative. Competent teacher must love his job, and not everyone can be a teacher.
Times are changing, and technology is changing too, and teacher must follow this. Teacher must today be good in IT, Internet is today very important.

OdgovoriIzbrišiTo be a teacher… This is easy to be, but to be a good teacher, it is more harder. Today we are talking what means to be a teacher. The competencies that the teachers need include lifelong learning, innovativeness, openness to different psychological profiles and leadership. Today it is more harder than before 5, 10, 20 years. We must adapt to the children. They have special look on the world today. Most of them are living in the world of games, social media… We should give our best to teach them how to live, love, work, talk, listen and etc. So, I think we have one of the main roles in their lives.

Hello Berina :)
IzbrišiI have question for you. How do you see yourself as a future teacher in 21st century. What are the benefits of teaching in 21st century?
Have a nice day.
Autor je uklonio komentar.
OdgovoriIzbrišiBeing a good professional means constantly improving and working on yourself.
OdgovoriIzbrišiThis also applies to teachers. As teachers, we need to know the latest findings from the world’s research about children and their development. Then, we adapt that knowledge to our teaching style. The role of the teacher in the child's development is great. When we talk about the teacher today and the teacher before, we notice differences. Before, the teacher was more appreciated, but his teaching style was more rigorous. Today, the teacher is a motivator, and this is a positive change from before. Teachers are role models for children, especially at an early age. That means we have to take care of the way we talk, the way we dress and our behavior in general. For the end i will write one quote of Henry Adams: "A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops."
Amina Ćosić, PO4
IzbrišiHi, Amina!:)
IzbrišiI completely agree with you.I would like to know, which are the main challenges teachers are facing?
Dear Amina, I must say that I agree with your arguments and thinking. I myself also believe that teachers need to constantly improve their knowledge and adapt to changes in society in order to teach children as successfully as possible.
Izbriši@Amina
Izbriši"A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops."
I like it! (Y)
Dear Amina, "Being a good professional means constantly improving and working on yourself." My thoughts exactly.
IzbrišiHello Amina. I agree everything you have said.
IzbrišiMy opinion is that each teacher is an individual for themselves, and what they bring to education is themselves. They are very important and have played a big role since our earliest childhood. In the past, they did not have such advanced technology and information available, but in the 21st century, they have and should be used to the best of their ability. What does it mean to be a good teacher in the 21st century? A good teacher is one who loves his job first, then works hard, who works for himself and his profession, who is committed to imparting his knowledge to children, needs to be creative and educated. That is, he should attend seminars as much as possible because that is how he works to improve his profession.

OdgovoriIzbrišiHi everyone!
OdgovoriIzbrišiAt this point, we can mostly see how it is important first for the teacher than to us students follow modern technology, which shows us the importance of following everyday improvements. This situation with this global virus COVID-19 made us use technology as a primary use in our studies right now. This is a new type of learning for both of us, teachers and student so we're finding a way along the way. What I wanted to say with this is that if our teachers weren't upgrading themselves and their teaching methods by the way and didn't follow modern types of the educational system, today we wouldn't have opportunity to finish our student tasks and we would be forced to wait to this virus situation to cool down so we could finish our studies. Thank God we today have everything we need for this kind of lectures (online lectures) regarding past times (when we didn't have modern technology like we do today). I used this situation to describe a small part of what it means teaching profession in 21 st century. But regardless of this situation, the teaching profession in 21 st century means much more effort by teachers to advance teaching techniques, a desire for daily learning and improving the education system and following those everyday improvements. Every teacher is unique and has their way of teaching so every one of them should individually work on themselves. A good teacher and educator should be able to adapt to any situation he finds himself in and to find the best solution for the dismissal of the same.
Stay safe and work on yourself! :) 😊
Dženita Čolo PO4
Hi Dženita,
IzbrišiI agree that not everyone did the best in this situation, but it is not at all simple and easy. This is a huge step, as a transition from one social system to another, and I think that we all together need to support educators.
Hi Nerma,
IzbrišiI am glad that we share the same opinion and I agree that this is new for us. We certainly need to work on it and give maximum support to our educators.
All the best and stay healthy :)
As we have entered into a fast-paced technological era the speed and exchange of information has never been this rapid. This has a direct effect on the educational system. The added value in a world where any information is a few clicks away have been and still are teachers. We can package many terms under the word “teacher” such as motivators, leaders, innovators, psychologists and so on. Facing 20-30 or more children or teenagers in a classroom requires a variety of skills. In this environment teachers providing information to students becomes obsolete, the primary goal of any teacher should be to create critical thinking and curiosity within their students. They need to be able to handle the A-class student as well as the less motivated ones. Learning and adjusting day in and out to be able to bring the best out of them. Besides the challenges in the classroom they also face external problems such as lack of parental support, lack of proper financial funding, lack of recognition, performance pressure from the school administrators and others. However, the one quality that teachers should have for their job is passion, to keep themselves updated on their field and transfer the same passion to the students. Aside all the 21st century attitude problems , no laptop, smart phone, book can replace an face to face interaction with emotions and tailored approach. To conclude, being a teacher has never been more challenging and less rewarding. A good teacher is a jewel to the students and everyone should be able to appreciate that.
OdgovoriIzbrišiSelma Hodo PO4
Hello Selma. I agree everything you have said. I'm interested what you think - whats the most important personality that teachers should pass on to kids on first touch ?
IzbrišiHi everyone!
OdgovoriIzbrišiI share an opinion with a colleague who said that not everyone can be a teacher. A teacher, a real teacher, possesses some competencies that other people do not have, just not born with it. Everyone is born to be something in life. The teacher should be calm, steady, understanding and loving. What distinguishes every good teacher is that whenever you meet him, he has a smile on his face. Although we are all humans, we have healthy, emotional, private problems, but remember their smile every time you meet them, when you contact them. A true teacher will always be ready to help his students selflessly because they are part of his life.
Loving their job, being satisfied with their job will greatly make it easier for any teacher to come up with all the problems, obstacles, and obligations. :) Bye!
Nerma Omeragić, RN4
Dear Nerma, I agree with you. Do you think that the job of a teacher was more demanding before or after technology took place?
IzbrišiWell, good question dear Aldina. I think it is much more demanding now because we have a lot of teachers who work for 20 years or more and in their time the use of the tools we know today was not known, so today being a teacher requires daily learning. Bye! ☺️

IzbrišiDear Nerma, You are right to be a teacher, that requires a lot of patience and understanding. Do You think it is possible always to hide Your emotions and to have smile on Your face? As You say we are all humans.
Izbriši@Selma
IzbrišiWell, it is not easy at all, but teachers(not all)have something like an instinct to keep a smile on their place and it is not easy, of course.
Byeee...☺️
Hi Nerma :)
IzbrišiI also think that everyone can not be a teacher.
To be a teacher you need to have a whole range of qualities.
Hi Nerma. I totally agree with you. You said it very well. Bye
IzbrišiFor a start, school systems should take a greater interest in the professional views of teachers as experts on teaching and learning. We expect much more from teachers than what appears in their job description. We also expect them to be passionate, compassionate and thoughtful.
OdgovoriIzbrišiTo be a professional educator in 21st century we need to not only be able to teach but be able to learn and be all encopassing. Have the ability to adapt, communicate, emphatise along with many other characteristics. I think following qualities are essential for teachers to teach 21st century learners: creativity, kindness, discipline, courage, optimism, collaboration, calm, logical, passionate, flexible, reliable, learner, social, innovative. From my point of view 21st century teachers should be flexible and friendly and also aware of their students´needs for future career development. I mean teachers have to be able to develop and enhance students capability to tolerate and adjust in any field and also develop humanity and moral values.
Hi everyone,
OdgovoriIzbrišiI'm happy that we can exchange thoughts on this topic like many others that follow.
Teaching proffesion like every other proffesion posesses some pros and cons. It's fact that teachers and proffesors before had it easyer. It's also true that they had bigger respect which sometimes bordered with awe. The thing that was the biggest hurdle past generation of educators was a hard time getting to information. Unlike todays teachers who get served information from a wide variety -correct and incorrect, needed and uneeded, checked and unchecked.
To teach kids what you know and pass down your skills proffessors today must constantly be in touch with technology and always work on themselves. A good proffesor in the 21st century creates a bond with their kids filled with love, understandment, respect. Proffesors need to follow the kids interests, talents and help them to improve on their talents and work with a lot of freedome in their classes they should prepare as much diverse subjects and use as much technolagy as they have. Classes should intertwine as much diffrent aspects of life as possible (art , music ect ) so the kids would grow up to be more knowlegeble.
Besides that, teachers must possess formal and unformal training and lost diffrent skills. Even with collage all other forms of knowladge can't hurt. Teachers have to be people who like to communicate, possitive, someone who likes kids and likes to work with them, somones who possesses knowladge, can pass it on and someone who is friends with the kids and who can motivate them. They should also have their own hobbies to make themselves happy. That would be the best impression to kids.
Comming from someones who really likes this proffesion ofcourse I think this is the right call for young people. I don't see any negative sides to this job. For every job if you really like what you are doing and you want to keep it every day doing just that is a dream come true. Spending time with kids who are the most honest being is something that is very beautiful. That helps you to stay and nurture the child inside you. Working with kids keeps you in contact with art to use your diffrent talents. Its an incredible thought that the children infront of you get directly shaped and motivated by you mentally, physical and emotionaly.
#staysafe #stayhome #bepositive ❤ ❤
Dear Edita,
IzbrišiI totally agree with You with everything You wrote. You are right that teacher like everyone else can get any informations needed and that those informations can be correct and incorrect. Do You think it's easier or more difficult to be teacher today than before eventhough we have all these advanced tehnologies and can get many informations in a second?
Hi Edita. I totally agree with you. You said it very well. :)
IzbrišiHi Edita.
IzbrišiI also think that not everyone can be a teacher.
To be a teacher you need to have a whole range of qualities.
OdgovoriIzbrišiTeachers play a very important role in the lives of children. It is a very responsible job because teachers should be setting a good example for the children. They become their second parents in a way, and for some they even become their role models. It is very important for a teacher to love their job because their love or hate towards it may affect the children in a good or bad way. When we love something, we have a desire for constant learning, improvement and advancement, which is of great importance. Many changes have taken place in the world, so the job of a teacher also requires adjusting to these changes in society. Teachers today have many more options than before, but also with more responsibility. With the advent of technology, various new ways of learning have emerged. Teachers need to improve their computer skills so that, in times like these, they can maintain online classes as successfully as possible. Teachers need to be creative, kind, loving, respecting... Also, apart from the school curriculum, they need to teach children some life values, and responsibilities that await them after “the school life”. The teacher is no longer only here to provide the knowledge needed, but they are here as friends, helpers, role models, future colleagues and most importantly someone you can put your trust into.
Aldina Zejnilović, RN IV
OdgovoriIzbrišiTeachers have one of the most important professions today. They are not only people who spend time with children, but they are an integral part of our lives and the lives of children in general. Even as we grow up, we never forget our teachers and our memories. Teachers shape, love, and give us a first impression of the world and teach us first letters and many other things. Unfortunately, although in our society this profession is highly undervalued, I believe that this will change over time and that people will realize that it is teachers who give the first impression of the world to children. They love and shape them, give them all the time and ideas, and there is nothing more valuable than giving your time and love to someone.
This profession is all about love. You can love working with children or not. It's really sad that today in our preschool institutions we have people who doesn't really like their jobs.
Last time when we have pedagogical practice, one of teachers said "Who made you to enter that university?" and i really felt sad for that.
I hope our sistem will take care of our institutions and make sure that we have quality not quantity in our education.
I love my profession and I can't wait to start working. It's something that makes my heart warm and that is something that I wish to everybody, to love what they do and stay loyal to what they love.
Hi Almedina.
IzbrišiDon't you think that sometimes teachers are those who don't let us be us, and all this school system is actually here to make us all the same, think the same and do the same?
Just asking if you have an opinion on this side of the coin?
Adna Zolota
Teachers of this century should be creative inside classrooms rather than being traditional. They must be well aware with the latest technologies of educational interests. They should concentrate more on modern advancement in giving examples than the older traditional examples given by our own tearchers in the classrooms. Nowadays, modenization in the teaching is key to develop skill among the students to handle new life style easily and effectively.

I really like hanging out with my friends. Aside from that I would like to learn a lot of things and I try to learn something new every day. I like reading books, especially novels. I like to learn foreign languages, besides Turkish I know Arabic and English.
Regarding English, that language is so amazing to me. I really like to hear when someone speaks in English. English is world language and wherever we go it can help us to manage in different situations. Also, a lot of literature consernig my profession is in English. I watch movies without translation, just with English subtitles to perfect this language and it helps. I think that knowing a language is a great asset and as many languages as we know, we are so rich.
Hello everyone,
OdgovoriIzbrišiMy name is Ajlana Bužo. I like this topic a lot. In the 21st century, the teacher has many more roles than just the teacher. The teacher needs to adapt to every child to follow the trends of today. The world is changing very fast, so is the job of a teacher. In the technology world, children have access to a lot of information, which is sometimes good for children and sometimes not. I think that the teacher is a very important link in the life of the child or the student. They create a mature person from a child, so it is important that this relationship is based on trust and mutual understanding. Personally, the most important thing is that children see a sincere friend in the teacher. The teacher should have qualities such as kindness, resourcefulness, activity, modernity, ambition, always ready to help, patience. But first of all the teacher has to love his job. That is why being a successful teacher may be the greatest challenge facing teachers, because in order for a teacher to be successful, he or she must motivate all children to work well. All these things we can see on the present situation with covid-19. Each of us should thank the teachers todayy the are having a very hard job.
The most important thing for being a good teacher is to be a lifetime learner who loves what they do. I think that when we love what we are doing, we are opening doors for joy and we are forwarding it on others.
OdgovoriIzbrišiGood teacher, who is conciuos and who is aware of world and time in which we are living, can learn 21 century kids. It's everything about different times, but we have to adjust in the way we will make quality education, and with many things and development of the world we can give gids more quality and visual help in education. I thing it is everything about the way we are using what has been given to us.
Ajla Balta, PO4
I think teachers should be flexible in adapting to new ways of how students learn in the 21st Century classroom. As such, they are required to life long learners, which may include even having a virtual identity and always updating their skills in order to meet the changing demographics of students in their classrooms. Teachers have to be able to develop and enhance students competences that will allow them to cope with their future professional duties.

I agree with opinion “the task of being a teacher has become even more complex today than it used to be before”. Reson is because the children today sometimes know even more than their teacher.
OdgovoriIzbrišiBeing a good education professional mean in the 21st century is to improve our knowledge in every single view. When we have an open view of life and open view of our knowledge we can be a good education professional for our children.
Competencies which teachers need in the 21st century are creativity, expanding knowledge every day, keeping up with the times and interest of our students. Allow us to learn something from children.
We should not allow ourselves to become educators who think that only children should learn from them and not those from children.
I also think that educatiors have to be lifelong learners, adventurous, innovative and imaginative because children today need thet. Today when knowledge is easy to get, we need to learn more so we could give the children knowledge they want to know and what are their interests.
A lot of young people will stay and become educators in our contry if the government let the educatiors open arms to work with children according to the plan and program that is best for them. Government does not interfere in the work of educational institutions just give them money they need to work.
In today’s modern classrooms, the focus is increasingly shifting from teachers as custodians of knowledge to students. 21st Century Teachers guide students through their education through tools such as the Internet, social media, and other digital solutions. The 21st century teacher is progressive, understanding that the world is changing rapidly due to the availability of increasingly developed technologies. Progressive educators strive to prepare students to be successful citizens of the future. Classroom time is focused on interactive activities in which students can participate. Modern educators want to stay relevant by tailoring lessons to include the use of technology and social media. This is not to say that every lesson is designed to incorporate technology - these tools are used when appropriate to enhance a lesson, assist in data collection, or present material in a new, familiar, or engaging way. A 21st century teacher uses social media to show the success of his students, connect with parents, colleagues and the community. Progressive teachers collaborate in a number of ways. They work together to devise lessons and openly share those plans with anyone interested. They present their ideas at conferences, professional courses and meetings in the hope of helping others
OdgovoriIzbrišiTeaching in the 21st century is an altogether different phenomen;never before could learning be happening the way it is now- everywhere, all the time, an any possible topic, supporting any possible learning stlye or preference.

OdgovoriIzbrišiThe twelve 21st Century skills are: Critical thinking,Creativity, CollaborationCommunication, Information literacy, Media literacy, Technology literacy, Flexibility,

The 21st century teacher needs to be a digital native. The 21st century teacher needs to be able to filter news and information.
Hello Ajla, do you think teacher in 21st century will easy get used on tehnology ?
IzbrišiI think that The changes brought by modern society also require changes in the teaching paradigm process and therefore we are talking about the modern concept of teaching which, in addition to education, includes upbringing of the individual. The traditional approach to learning and teaching is characterized by a dominant lecture professors, as the primary way of transferring knowledge and is today considered a limiting factor for the development and acquisition of knowldege.
OdgovoriIzbrišiI think that in every time there is something good, something that was good in the past times would not be good for us now and I think that education should be adapted to this modern time.
21st-century teaching means teaching as you have always taught but with today's tools and technology. It means utilizing everything that is important in today's world so that students will be able to live and prosper in today's economy, as well as having the ability to guide students and to prepare them for the future.
